Be Careful How You Build

Scripture: John 1:1-2
Devotional Series: Conflict with the Whore
Teaching: Conflict With The Whore pt. 2 (WED 2021-02-03) by Pastor Star R Scott

How much more do we need to abide in the vine?  “If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you can ask what you will, and it’ll be done unto you” (John 15:7).  What I want is to fear Him and keep His commandments; amen?  That’s what we will, that’s what we want.

How much of that other stuff has gotten too much of a hold on you?  How much thought are you putting into it?  How much physical and mental energy are you putting into it?  How important to you are the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, the lusts?  We need to beware, and we need to pray that this day does not come on us unawares; amen?

Luke 21:34 admonishes us not to be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness and the cares of this life.  Can you sit down and look in the Mirror and hear that verse?  None of us knows our hearts, do we?  You’re going to be known by your fruit.  Only abiding in the vine will allow us to follow and live sound doctrine.  That’s the only thing that’s going to save you in this last day, the Word.  And that’s why the Word is trying to be so diminished in the church, today.

One of the faster growing, popular movements that is going on right now is just antinomianism.  And basically, what it’s saying is, and this has got some gnostic thought in it as you can begin to see, what we need to do is be enlightened and have our own personal relationship and revelation and intimacy with Jesus, the Word, so that we can come to that enlightened truth because the written Word is inferior to the living Word.  And it’s becoming very popular.  There’s only one problem, God and His Word are one; amen?  He’s taken His Word and elevated it even above His name, the Scripture says.  There is not a superior and inferior, living versus written.  They are one; amen?  “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God” (John 1:1-2).  That logos, is the living Word, Jesus.  Everything that exists that is material, that is in existence today, exists by the Word of God.  Beloved, study to show yourselves approved unto God, workmen that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth; amen?

You can memorize all the Scripture you want.  But, if you’re a hearer and not a doer, you’re already self-deceived.  There’s no hope for you.  You’ll never get further revelation once you’re in deception.  Everything you think you’re receiving is being built upon deception.  There is only one true foundation, and Paul said very clearly, take heed how you build thereon; amen?  He’s making reference to the fact that the true church can’t build on anything that is not the Word.  There are no new revelations.  We’ve got everything that pertains to life and godliness already provided for us; amen?  This Word is the Truth, praise God!  This Word that is a lamp unto our feet.  This is the Word that we hide in our heart, and we don’t sin against Him.  This is the Word that not one jot or tittle will ever pass away till everything is fulfilled.  The heavens and earth shall pass away, but this Word will not pass away, praise God!  That’s your safety net.  That’s your sure foundation.  This is what we build upon.
