Building Your Own Kingdom?
Scripture: Isaiah 30:9Devotional Series: Conflict with the Whore
Teaching: Conflict With The Whore pt. 3 (SUN_AM 2021-02-07) by Pastor Star R Scott
I would say we need to start doing more than we’re doing, because we know a whole lot more than we’re putting to the road, amen? So, we’re not going to then prepare ourselves by more Bible study. We’re going to be more prepared by spending time in the presence of God and having Him reveal to you again what you already know. Return to your first works, and you’ll know the deliverance that’s available in this hour.
God has said there are a people that have their consciences seared. The fact is many Christians are very naive. Now, listen to what I have to say to you. There are many false teachers out there today; teaching doctrines of devils. The Scripture talks about it very clearly that we are living in an age where false prophets—your Kenneth Copelands, Creflo Dollars, T.D. Jakes—many of them that are promoting gain is godliness. It’s a doctrine that’s wrapped up in all kinds of great teachings. Ninety percent of what they’ll say is Bible, but the rest isn’t; it’s worldly wisdom.
Years ago, God delivered this ministry as we were beginning to be called into a number of those meetings, knew these men, receiving invitations, and that was when God visited me and said, “I’m not pleased with what you’re doing.” He said, “You’re building your own kingdom.” As many of you know who were here at that time, we were one of the fastest growing churches in the Washington DC area. We had a reputation for signs and wonders and teaching. I’ve been backstage; I’ve been on their private jets and yachts. And the spirit, and their message, is not the biblical message of prosperity. I believe in biblical prosperity. I believe that God wants to bless His people, but that spirit that gain is godliness, we’re admonished very clearly: from such turn away. Amen? The love of money is the root of all evil, and it is a difficult thing for a rich man to get into heaven. You’ve got to be careful, because we Americans are a rich people. We are a prosperous people. Any time your finances give you independence, you’re in danger. When you become as gods that are independent, able to choose what you want to do, what you deem right, what you deem wrong, that spirit of antichrist has already taken root in your hearts. The wealthier you get, the more dependent you’d better be on God, and to hear whether or not we should go here or go there in our business dealings, and conduct this venture and make this money. Should you not pray, “If the Lord wills?” Isn’t that scriptural wisdom?
So, we see this spirit that’s inundating the church today. In Isaiah, Chapter 30:9, we begin to see the prophet speaking of the apostasy of the covenant people. When we read in the Scriptures and we see idolatry being addressed, remember, we’re not talking about just the images that were made. Can you imagine turning from the Living God? A people who saw the glory cloud. A people who had this cloud by day that brought shade and direction for the people of Israel as they were leaving Egypt, and at night the pillar of fire. That presence that came and fought for them and governed the direction of the messengers of God as the angels knocked the wheels off of Pharaoh’s chariots and they drove heavily. This One that divided the Red Sea, and they walked across on dry ground. Those congealed walls of water that crashed in upon Pharaoh’s army and destroying all. Drinking water from the rock, eating your daily manna, and then hand carving your own god and think that it’s something!
