He's Coming for His Church
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:17Devotional Series: Conflict with the Whore
Teaching: Conflict With The Whore pt. 4 (WED 2021-02-10) by Pastor Star R Scott
There are many marked people in churches that will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But if they haven’t repented, they are hearers only, and not doers, of the Word.” “Mark them which cause divisions…” Them which cause divisions is a very interesting term in the Greek also; it means “those who stand against authority.” In other words, they stand against the doctrine that is sound doctrine. These are people who want to set their own standards; these are true heretics. They are self‑willed people who refuse sound doctrine, and try to inflict their doctrine, their ideology, as truth, and their position as acceptable to God. We saw that 2 Peter 2:1 says that these false prophets “bring forth damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them.”
We are to love God with all our hearts and our neighbors as ourselves. So, it’s pretty simple for me to analyze my life; am I loving God with all my heart? Really? Do I see myself as the chief of sinners? The spirit of the whore allows every individual member to ascend to his own throne. If we were doing this properly, each of us, prior to coming to these services, would make sure that we have read Chapter 1 of Romans, and have understand God’s declaration of the human condition. There are some of us (more than a few of us) who show by our fruit that we still believe that men are basically good; we need to come back to the understanding that man is totally depraved. That should give us the compassion and love for them that God has: they can’t help themselves. Yes, they make bad choices, but we were children of darkness, then God illuminated our hearts through His Word. Are you bringing people the Gospel, this light of the glorious Gospel? Satan is blinding their eyes lest they should believe. There is no sound doctrine if there is no love.
I think the most dangerous part of this Great Whore is going to be the propagation of Calvinist doctrine in these last days: it’s a conglomeration of many different antichrist doctrines throughout multiple religions. Their understanding of total depravity, is not the biblical revelation of what a depraved man is. They believe that depravity is the condition in which they can do nothing whatsoever to involve themselves in redemption. The reality is that we can do something that involves us in the redemptive plan, and that is to have faith—to believe—and to choose whom we will serve. That is what allows them to bring about the false doctrine of divine election, meaning that, since man can contribute nothing, God has chosen sovereignly from the beginning who will go to heaven and who will go to hell, and man has nothing to do with it. One of the most damnable teachings of this Calvinistic doctrine is limited atonement: they don’t believe that God died for everybody; they believe that God died only for the elect.
One thing we know is that we are living in very dangerous hours. Men will heap to themselves teachers having itching ears. They will not endure sound doctrine, but damnable heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them. “Come out from among them, and be ye separate.” (2 Corinthians 6:17) How much filth can we allow in our lives and still be holy? How much carnality can be prominent in our thinking and still have the mind of Christ? He’s coming for His church. What a dangerous time we live in as the seducer of our souls takes us up and says, “Here’s all the glory of the world; I’ll give it to you, if you worship me.”
