The Church Needs to Repent

Scripture: Romans 1:16-25
Devotional Series: Conflict with the Whore
Teaching: Conflict With The Whore pt. 5 (SUN_AM 2021-02-14) by Pastor Star R Scott

One thing that we find throughout the book of Revelation as those churches were being spoken to and throughout the epistles is that one mandate, “Beloved, repent.”  Amen?  Let me tell you something: the church in America is a church that needs to repent.  And I’m not talking about the apostate church; I’m talking about the true church.  I’m talking about the church that has within it all of those horrible, carnal, fleshly appetites that were revealed in the Ephesians church, these things that are not to be once named among us.  The one thing, beloved, that we’ve got to know, it’s got to become a part of our hearts; we’ve shared it many times; nobody is stronger than leaven.  Leaven left in the lump will eventually leaven the whole lump.  And what was that leaven that Jesus spoke of?  The doctrine of the Pharisees.  We’ve seen very clearly that there will be a message in this hour of peace and safety.  They will not endure sound doctrine; they will heap to themselves teachers having itching ears.

This is that hour and this issue is not a new thing.  I we look at Isaiah and Jeremiah, the people, in the midst of all of their idolatry, lascivious lives, and carnality, came and heaped to themselves teachers and said, “Prophesy to us smooth things.  We’re tired of hearing this burden of the Lord.”  The burden of the Lord was the message, “Repent.  Judgment is coming.  God is going to purify His church.”  And, beloved, I want you to understand something: judgment is beginning in the house of the Lord.  And that spirit of the burden of the Lord, “This is such a heavy word to hear.  We need somebody that will speak something positive.”  He, that’s gone to prepare a place for us, will come again and receive us unto Himself.  Praise God!  Amen?  But until then, we’re to occupy until He comes.  We’re to occupy in a generation that exhibits the same traits as those that were in Sodom and Gomorrah.  This word will not be tolerated in months to come.  The sin of Sodom was the consequence of their pride and their independence, their wealth, and their idleness.  Those are the things that we need to get out of our lives.  We can’t sit here smugly because we don’t practice homosexuality and think that that same spirit of Sodom isn’t in this place.  And it’s in this hour for sure.  And judgment is beginning in the house of the Lord.  As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be.  We saw in Noah’s day that all of their thoughts were wickedness only.

We see in Romans, Chapter 1:16-25, that this is what’s innate within depraved man.  Paul said, “I’m not ashamed of the gospel; it’s the power of God to salvation.”  He says that which may be known of God has been manifest.  Not one man will ever stand before God and say, “I never saw any revelation or heard of Your glory and Your majesty, Your dominion.”  God said the heavens have declared His glory.  God said there is no excuse.  When we look at the false prophets of this day, their messages will be about glorifying man—man’s preeminence, man’s prosperity, man’s comfort and ease.  Very soon, no other message will be tolerated.  Truth will be this: man is basically good.  And that’s the message that will be continually propagated in these days to come, and this independent spirit of man, this preeminence of man—each one of us being restored back to that place, that desire, of independence that says, we will not have this man rule over us.  Their thoughts will be evil continually—this generation that’s upon us.
