Are You Ready?
Scripture: Luke 12:31-40Devotional Series: Think It Not Strange
Teaching: Think It Not Strange pt. 1 (WED 2021-07-28) by Pastor Star R Scott
We are called to battle. We continue to war when, in fact, more credibility is being given to all of these false religions than ever before. In the history of our nation, as short as it is, these hundreds of years, a nation founded on a Judeo-Christian ethic, established rules of morality which are no longer given credibility. Laws of civil treatment of one another. How tragic, we hear night after night, innocent people being shot down in the streets just trying to go visit a neighbor. The Scripture says very clearly, one of the great signs of the last days, I’m talking about the last moment of the last days, will be that secret power of lawlessness. Every man doing what’s right in his own eyes, without natural affection; amen? Who is this who can go shoot down and murder innocent children in the streets? The answer is, “We need to build more rec centers.” Foolishness! Insanity! In fact, the Scripture makes it very clear what will solve the problem and yet men count the wisdom of God as foolishness. This lawlessness that’s causing these children to run around and shoot one another. “Thou shalt not kill,” was done away with when parents put the paddle away that drives foolishness far from the heart of the child. The moment they rejected God’s wisdom and law on how to raise children, we have rebels running in the streets and anarchy instead of divine order.
The same thing is taking place in the church. Men are creating their own religions. We have Christianity today and we hear comments like, “My Jesus would never paddle a child.” I’m just using that as a reference. Well, I beg to differ, because God and His Word are one; amen? I don’t know about your Jesus, but my Jesus is the Word of God, the Bible says, and everything this Bible says is what my Jesus does and speaks. So, true, we have a different Jesus. Years ago, I taught a message entitled, “Crucifying the Twentieth-Century Jesus.” Romans tells us man has created God in their own image and that’s what the American church is doing today. They’re re-creating God in the image of their humanistic philosophies. Churches today being governed by psychologists. Should I say that the church needs psychologists because so many are filled with weak-minded people? I would remind you and me that we’re strong-minded; amen? We have the mind of Christ. We have not received the mind, or the spirit, of fear but of love, of power, and a sound mind; hallelujah! We see the deviation of the church from the truth, the Word of God, and how it’s taking on humanism and applying it today in the church.
Here we are on the brink of the Lord’s return. Our faith, coming down the home stretch, is going to be put to the test. Are you ready? The test is coming, are you ready? Have you prepared yourself? Tests aren’t all that bad if you’re prepared, are they? Have we prepared ourselves? We’ll see what Paul says about making preparation. But we’ve seen the apostle speak to the church and he reminded them that many were the afflictions that would come upon the righteous but that the Lord will deliver us out of them all. Can you say, “Praise God!” for that?
