God Will Meet Your Needs

Scripture: Philippians 4:5-7
Devotional Series: New Beginnings
Teaching: New Beginnings pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2023-01-01) by Pastor Star R Scott

The Scripture is clear as to what is needed for the church in this hour: “Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:5-7).  Not only do we need to practice this, we need to share this.  The rise in teenage suicide is just phenomenal.  Research has proved that people are more vulnerable to suicide if they spend three hours or more a day on social media; that is the peak factor in the propensity for becoming suicidal.  Even the world sees how dangerous this is.  My advice to you is that you not spend any more time in that stuff than you spend in the Bible.  If you’re going to spend three hours on social media or two hours on social media or an hour on social media, then wash your minds equally with the washing of the water of the Word; amen?  If the world is beginning to see that it’s dangerous, where should we be, as the church?  “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and He shall direct thy paths.”  Now watch, “Be not wise in thine own eyes” (Proverbs 3:7).  That might be a good one to put on the refrigerator this year (amen?).  “Be not wise in your own eyes.”

I ask again, "Have you got it?"  “I’ve got this.  Things are great.  Got a new job.  Got a raise.  Got more discretionary money.”  That will go away quickly, won’t it?  I’ll give you some good/bad news:  there is only one way to deal with the problem that we find ourselves in from a fiscal perspective, which is to have a huge rise in interest rates.  Interest rates need to keep going up and up and up to keep us from hyperinflation if there is going to be recovery from this flooding of trillions of dollars into the economy.  Nobody wants to pay that price.  People are whining today over the interest rates now.  (I don’t have a clue.  I’m not borrowing; amen?  “The borrower is servant to the lender.”)  I wish interest rates would go to 100 percent because I’m storing up.  Dear God!  I would love to see my money getting 100 percent interest; amen?  But that’s because I don’t have any debts.  I owe no man anything but to love him.  It depends on which perspective you have.  This has been a lot of years coming.

When I went to buy my first home (I backed off of making the purchase), it was one of these Pulte homes right across the street with an 18 percent mortgage.  Do you remember those days?  We are the same people griping about 4 percent now.  It finally went to fifteen and we thought, “Man, what a great deal!”  I finally bought my home at twelve percent, and then later got it down to ten.  But we cinched our belts really tightly, especially the first five years, because we financed it over fifteen years with progressive payment on the principal.  So, every year saw a substantial increase in the mortgage.  For the first five years, it was tough.  So, we were looking and asking, “What is the solution?”  The solution was the same then as it is today, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding.”  Isn’t it amazing how God was able to meet your needs at 15 percent back then?  If it goes to 15 percent tomorrow, God will meet your needs.  Does anybody here believe that?
