The Laborers are Few
Scripture: John 4:35Devotional Series: Stand Up
Teaching: Stand Up pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2021-10-24) by Pastor Star R Scott
Many believe that there’s going to be that voice crying out, as the book of Revelation states, “Come up hither.” I want you to know something, when that voice goes, “Come up hither,” there’s nothing keeping you back, hallelujah! He’s coming for those that are looking for Him. He’s coming for those that love His appearing. The Bible says, “We will be changed in an instant,” hallelujah! This old, nasty, vile, sick, beat up, perverted body; this corruption, this body that has struggled under the curse of sin from our very birth, will be made incorruptible. Hallelujah! There won’t be any more weeping. There won’t be any more crying. There won’t be any more suffering, and mortality will take on immortality. The Bible says, “We will see Him, and we will be like Him, and so shall we ever be with the Lord." Can you say, “Praise God”? We’ve got somewhere to go, and it’s home, hallelujah! We're going to see Jesus. But until that trumpet sounds, He said, “I’m empowering My church to restrain evil on the earth.” We haven’t done a real great job, but we were never expected to influence the majority, because the Scripture itself says, “Few there be that find it.” Amen? Don’t get discouraged in thinking, “We’re not doing our job.”
I was down in Georgetown yesterday, and as it so happens when I’m in places like that, I was somewhere in the stores looking at different things, and I have no interest in that. I was sitting outside and just watching the people go by. All of a sudden, I found myself beginning to be choked up to the point where it would have been very easy to weep. I mentioned to one standing by me, and I said, “Look at this, and virtually every one of these people are going to hell, going to eternal damnation.” If we’re not careful as the church, we can be caught up with the secular mind and begin to wonder, possibly, “How is that fair?” We know the Scripture's admonition that they can’t hear without a preacher; amen? We know the Bible revelation, that we’re to pray to the Lord of the harvest that we would go into the harvest, pray for laborers. Jesus, Himself said, “Look up, the fields are white unto harvest. Pray the Lord of the harvest that He might send forth laborers.” We say, “Lord, send us forth,” and yet there are millions, and millions, and they keep coming; there are billions!
Aren’t you thankful for the Word of God that declares the heavens declare the glory of God; amen? Aren’t you thankful for the Word of God that says the knowledge of God is innate within every man? Aren’t you glad for Romans 1, when it says they know, these that have heard and know of God, have heard the gospel, and yet, continue in their self-willed rebellion? Let’s remember, their judgement is just. Let’s remember that these people are haters of God, and to be a friend of the world’s system is to be in direct opposition to the Lord God, Himself, and to His kingdom.
We pray that our hearts would be stirred, that we’ll be more effectual in our witnessing (amen?), in our declaration of this glorious gospel, in our declaration of this—I love what the Scripture says—this unspeakable gift; this gift of Jesus Christ that is beyond the ability to articulate; this gift of God’s Son, who before the foundations of the world took sin upon Himself in the eternal perspective, in the mind and heart of God. He was the Lamb, slain from before the foundations of the world; amen? Before we were born in sin, He loved us and He died for us. Jesus came and was made sin for us and took our sin upon Himself that He might put His righteousness upon each and every one of us. Can you say, “Praise God,” for that?
