We could go through and show all kinds of things that pertain to science that as science continues to grow, verifies the Scripture. For years there’s been mockery of the Scriptures and different declarations, whether it be the stables of Solomon or whatever else. I could go on and name so many other aspects, and that, “There’s no proof of this. There is absolutely no scientific evidence.” Dig a little deeper, and archaeologists find not only fragments of the Word of God itself, but historical proof, forensic proof of cities, of names, of rulers that for hundreds of years were used to prove the Bible was wrong, and they’re finding that evidence even to this day. The better science gets, the more the Bible is vindicated.
The Scriptures were written over a period of 1,500 years. The conclusion: there was not a gathering to assure continuity. There were 1,500 years that transpired through this period, with 40 different authors. They were not all scholars. They were not all priests. The authors had over 20 separate, stated occupations, were from every walk of life, rom 10 separate countries. We know there are 66 books in the Bible. I like this: 1,189 chapters, 31,000 verses, 3 different languages. And everything agrees! Prophets speak, and hundreds of years later, the fulfillments come. You just stand in awe of this—2,930 people named. Their names were called. Many of them, historically, by archaeological digs, have been found. Their residences found. You go on and see that 1,551 different places are referred to. This is where it got interesting for many of those years. Now, many of these places, many of these names that were foreign to those who were spending their lives in these archaeological digs, with many of them dying, never seeing the proof, but they continued. Very interesting.
One of the books in the secular world that’s given credibility in its antiquity are the writings of Plato. It’s interesting, as these were written in 427 B.C. Quickly—this will help you understand—for the original manuscripts of these writings that are held as credible, some of the greatest secular writings held as credible, none of the original documents exist. If you could go back and get one of Plato’s originals, you will have found something. But what was found were copies, okay? Of these copies, there are seven. They’ve only found seven, and the oldest one is 900 years after the original. Nine-hundred years after the original, they found a copy. Nine-hundred years separates the original to the copy. There are only seven copies. Nine-hundred years.
However, the New Testament, written between A.D. 40 and 100, has copies, fragments that date to within 25 years—not 900—25 years of the originals. The people were still alive. The people were still alive that wrote the originals. Twenty-five years. And there are 24,643 copies, fragments.
Do you know that with that information, given the opportunity, the majority of people would choose Plato’s writings as acceptable, credible in antiquity, and reject the Word of God? So, the problem is not an information problem. The problem is a prejudice, a hatred for God, a hatred for the Word of God. Because Jesus said, “It’s My life that was lived before you, and these commandments that I’ve presented before you that cause you to be guilty before God.” That’s why people don’t want to hear the truth. He said, “Because you have rejected Me, I will reject you.” Amen?
