God is Worth Our Praise

Teaching: Worship His Majesty pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2024-07-07) by Pastor Star R Scott
Amen. Hallelujah! The Lord is good; amen? His mercies endure forever. Hallelujah! Let’s turn to Psalm 34. We’re going to take just a few minutes and set aside time to honor God in our hearts; amen? Worship Him. Give Him thanks. Sing praises to His name, because He is worthy. Hallelujah! You know, we know the distinction between worship and thanksgiving. So often, thanksgiving has to do with appreciation for what God has done for us. He has done a lot, hasn’t He? It is thanksgiving for the things that God has done. All of it is done through His mercy and grace, because we merit nothing. All of the good things that God has bestowed upon us are because of God’s love. God is love. It’s His person. It is an attribute of who He is. We always want to take time to look at that aspect of worship because of who He is. He is worthy; amen? He is holy. He is unique. He is set apart. There is no one like Him. We are not able to worship God without Him pouring out the revelation of Himself to us.
The more He reveals Himself to us, the more we appreciate and discern that greatness. One of the root aspects of worship, as we’ve shared in the past, is “worth-ship.” God is worth our praise; amen? He is worth the time that we set apart to honor Him and to rejoice in Him. Beyond imagination, He’s prepared a place for us to come and commune with Him. “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9). Think about that. In those times of fellowship and communing with Him in His Word, we get those glimpses of His hinder parts, possibly like Moses did, and it overwhelms us. Just think. We’re going to see Him face to face. Hallelujah! We’ll not only see Him then, but we’ll be like Him. We will know as we are known. Hallelujah! As the psalmist said, “What a day that will be!”
We are excited about what God has for us. The thing that keeps us from giving God the worship that He’s due is an unthankful heart. The Scripture says in Romans, Chapter 1, that one of the things that will be accentuated–it has always been. It’s historically unimaginable, and that is the ability of man to turn his heart and turn his mind from the goodness of God. It is that tainting of sin that never allows us to be satisfied. I’m talking about the old man. I’m talking about the natural man. It is not in man to be thankful. That is a derivative of sin. We know that the pride and sin that were found in Lucifer were because, even though he was the greatest creature, he was not satisfied. He was not thankful. He had to be like the Most High. That sin is what came, seduced Eve, and brought Adam to the fall of denying his authority on the earth and his responsibility of covering his wife.
We find ourselves to be the product of that rebellion, that pride, usurping, competitive spirit, and that desire to be exalted. Beloved, He is the One who deserves all the praise, all the honor, and all the glory; amen? We need to remind ourselves of that. As we begin to think we are worth more, let us glorify God. He knows what is best for us; amen? You see, glorifying God, worshiping God, can only come when we’re recognizing His sovereignty and that all that He does is good. We don’t worship Him because we think that we are being shortchanged somehow. “God isn’t answering my prayers.” Yes, He is. He said, “No,” and we can’t take no for an answer. What do we do when God says, “No”? We worship Him, and we praise Him.
