Let Everything That Has Breath
Scripture: Psalm 150:6Devotional Series: Worship His Majesty
Teaching: Worship His Majesty pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2024-07-07) by Pastor Star R Scott
What does Scripture mandate? We are to “bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my [heart].” “Oh, no! That’s not what it said.” Get your mouth involved. Open your mouth and say words about how good God is; amen? “Shout unto God with the voice of triumph” (Psalm 47:1). Hallelujah! “Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord” (Psalms150:6). Praise the Lord! “Praise the Lord! I’m not married yet. Praise the Lord!” And all of the married people said…?
No, I like what a man said the other day. We were talking, and it was brought up that there was a little friction that was going on with a couple. The man took a jab probably that he should not have, definitely should not have, taken. But in counseling, it was said, “Well, you know. You should be thankful. The Bible says, ‘Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord’ (Proverbs 18:22). This is what God has for us in this life because in heaven we are not going to be married.” The man says, “Come quickly, Lord Jesus!” We need to be thankful for our spouses; amen? We need to be thankful for that great gift that God has given us. Here's just a reminder: you chose them. Use words. Use words for your spouse. Tell them you love them. Tell them you are thankful for them.
In our relationships and our community, it’s necessary to bring unity and harmony into our midst. We are to speak to edify one another; amen? We’ve spent a lot of time teaching on it, “let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth,” love as you have been loved, and love thinks no evil; amen? All these things that God has done freely for us; we freely give. In the midst of that, we begin to praise Him and thank Him for these others who are in our lives who sometimes seem to cause unease. I chose that instead of “dis-ease” or disease. But you have to choose. You have to choose to allow the Holy Spirit—I am not just talking about speaking in tongues. Allow the Holy Spirit to come forth from you as rivers of living water and to speak great things of God and His body; amen? It is a choice. Many times, people who are unthankful get uneasy around people who are happy in the Lord, praising God, and excited about God.
Go to 2 Samuel, Chapter 6. David’s bringing the Ark back to its rightful place. We know the visitation of God that came upon those who were transporting the Ark contrary to God’s commandment. The judgment that came on Uzzah seems severe to the natural mind. There is not a broad band for us to deviate from for the proper worship of God, for the proper honoring of the holiness of God. With all this false worship going on today in churches, worship experiences. Let’s guard our own hearts to make sure that worship is not about us getting emotionally moved. Let’s remember that it’s about glorifying God and making Him big. “Well, I prefer this style of song. I prefer this particular leader over that leader.” It is about God being glorified; amen? It is not about entertaining one another.
