With Child of the Holy Ghost
Scripture: Matthew 1:18Devotional Series: Emmanuel II
Teaching: Emmanuel pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2022-12-25) by Pastor Star R Scott
As we begin to see the revelation of this event, the fulfillment of this particular prophecy, we find in Matthew 1:18, it says, “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph…”. They wasted a lot of paper and ink on arguing this subject, when the Holy Ghost said, “Before they came together.” Okay? Let’s always let the Word speak for itself; amen? “Before they came together she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.” Now, we all know these things. But I want to take it a little further as we go on in the teaching. The thing that I want to point out now is how much effort is put in trying to explain away this great, miraculous miracle of incarnation where God would take upon Himself humanity. The incarnation cannot be understood any more fully than the Trinity. It’s beyond the comprehension of the natural mind. How can He be fully God and fully man? Because the Bible says so (Philippians 2:6-8). Amen? And because Jesus says so (John 10:30-33, 36).
As we go on, we’re going to take a few minutes and let Jesus talk about Himself and Who He Himself declares Himself to be: the great Emmanuel, God with us, hallelujah! You see, that’s what He was hated for by the Jews, because “You, being a man, make Yourself—?” If He wasn’t God, He could not have been the propitiation, the appeasement for our sins, that atonement. If He were born of Adam, He would just be a continuation of the death-judgment upon humanity, whether or not He Himself lived to be sinless or not, which we know was impossible in and of itself. It had to be a sacrifice that was acceptable, a substitutionary death by One worthy—God Himself—in that He could not swear by any greater, He swore by Himself; amen? How great this revelation, how great this finished work is, and how ingenious the plan was affected on our behalf.
Christmas is a celebration of our sanctified lives. Christmas is a celebration of our empowering with the Holy Ghost. Christmas is a celebration that we’ve been given all power and all authority over all the power of the devil and nothing shall by any means harm us; hallelujah!
