Sanctification is a Gift
Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 4:3Devotional Series: Preparing for Jesus' Return
Teaching: Preparing For Jesus' Return pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2022-07-03) by Pastor Star R Scott
Hallelujah! The Lord is good, and His mercies endure forever. Glory to God! He is such a good and merciful God; amen? We are a blessed people. When we come to gather, let’s never take for granted that presence in this place that He’s chosen to put His name. It’s a special place. Thank God for the fellowship we have with Him in our own prayer closets. We’ve set up opportunities to come and pray and intercede for certain things on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but that’s not the only time we pray in a week; amen? We’re a people that pray without ceasing. We are a people that are familiar with the effectual fervent praying, coming into the presence of God. Real prayer is work. It’s work to keep this flesh silent so that we can hear and commune with God and not want to jump up and run around the house to take care of this or that; or a thought comes into our mind, but we shut ourselves in and that is sacred time. That’s God’s time; amen? When we get in that prayer closet, "Don’t bother me with anything. If the house isn’t burning down on top of us, just leave me alone. We’ll take care of whatever it is later;" amen? These are the things we prioritize: God’s time in our lives. Thank God that we are able to spend that time in communion and fellowship with Him.
We’ve been talking about sanctification and the process of sanctification in our lives. We’ve learned that sanctification, of course, was a one-time act accomplished by Jesus in the redemption of humanity from the power of sin and Satan. When we were justified, we were legally sanctified in Jesus Christ. That’s our position. That’s who we are. That’s what we are. Now, the working out, the practical showing forth and exhibiting sanctification, is a process that goes on for our whole lives, as we’ve studied and seen. The process will continue until we’re glorified. Come quickly, Lord Jesus; amen?
In that day, we will see Him and be like Him, hallelujah! Mortality will take on immortality. We’re going to enjoy His presence forever, hallelujah! There will be no more dying, and there will be no more sorrow and pain. All of the tears will be washed away, hallelujah! But we have a life to finish here. Should He tarry, He gives us sufficient grace. We know the wickedness of the hour we’re going into, but when iniquity abounds, the grace of God does much more abound, hallelujah!
So, we have nothing to fear. His grace will be sufficient. There is no power, no height, nor depth, nor principality, no power that can separate you from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. We are safe today. We are safe today in our abiding in Christ. We are safe today. No one can pluck us from His hands, hallelujah! So, we continue, as the Scriptures admonished us, that we can abide in Him, that His words then abide in us. How important this abiding process is!
