Friend of the World - Enemy of God

Scripture: James 4:4
Devotional Series: Preparing for Jesus' Return
Teaching: Preparing For Jesus' Return pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2022-07-03) by Pastor Star R Scott

Then you have the bride of Christ, the restrainer.  The one thing we must guard against in this hour, beloved, is the truth that a house divided against itself will not stand.  If ever there was a day when we need to see the worth of one another, we are living in that day.  "The more I love you, the more I put worth upon you, the more I’ll pray for you, the more I will speak truth to you;" amen?  We absolutely do not agree, so often, with God’s statement that He chastens those that He loves.  So, today we live, especially in society, but also in the professed church, with children that don’t know what correction is, or discipline is, and “no” is.

As you run into young people, the tragedy is many of them have never heard the gospel before.  America is not a Christian nation.  So often, for so many years, we were referred to as a “Christian nation.”  People have then said, “Well, in the recent decade we became post-Christian.”  Let me tell you: America is anti-Christian.  Secularism is opposed to the truth of God’s Word.  Secularism is sin.  Secularism is the enemy of God and His people.  Don’t embrace it.  Don’t fellowship with it.  “Well, they do some good things.”  Good for them, but let me tell you something: benevolence, philanthropy—none of that is good in God’s eyes, because it originates with rebels, with sin, with self-service, and does not bring glory to God.  Therefore, it is not good.

Secularism is not the source of good.  If good means that it relieves pain, it advances somebody, etcetera, then it worked good.  If that same thing relieved pain, advanced somebody, and it causes them now to look and worship something other than God, then it’s not good.  As a church, we give too much credibility to secularism.  "There is none good; no, not one;" amen?  "There is none that seeketh after God;" and to be a friend of secularism is to be the enemy of God.  These are the absolutes that we have to enter into these last days.  It has to possess our minds.  See it for what it is.  It’s temporal.  It’s damnable.  It draws men from God.  “Don’t trust in God.  Trust in the corporations.  Trust in the psychologists.  Trust in the government.  Make a name for yourself.  Leave a legacy.”  I would encourage you to lay up your treasures in heaven and forget about legacies.  “I just want to have a life that has accomplished something while I’m here.”  Then accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior; amen?  Go out and preach the gospel.  The whole duty of man: fear God and keep His commandments, hallelujah!

As you’re reading in the book of Revelation—and what an expression of the love and mercy of God, when you see those angels flying in the heavens, proclaiming the gospel!  Everybody hears, hallelujah!  Isn’t that exciting?  This is the heart of God today, what He’s doing through His Church; preaching.  How shall they hear without a preacher; amen?  We are the preachers.  We are the ones that He ordained, John says in the fifteenth chapter, to go and bear fruit, and our fruit remains.  We are the preachers.  We are God’s love gift to the world.  Many of us have thought that for a while, but I’m talking about in the spirit realm.  God’s not willing that any would perish.  Let’s believe that.  Let’s believe for people at work to come up and say, “I’ve been watching your life, man.  What is it about you?  I’ve heard.  I’ve watched you witness to other people.  What is this that you have?”  But we have to believe for this.  We have to have faith that the Holy Ghost is out there preparing people’s hearts; amen?  He can do it in the specific ways, where the Scriptures have manifested themselves, or in supernatural ways, such as angelic beings, the visitations of Jesus.
