Set Off by Boundaries
Scripture: 1 Peter 2:9Devotional Series: The Holy Ghost and Power
Teaching: The Holy Ghost and Power pt. 5 (SUN_AM 2024-10-27) by Pastor Star R Scott
The Lord is good, and His mercies endure forever. Hallelujah! I’m just so thankful for the goodness, the mercy of God as it pertains to each of us, and it expresses itself, of course, in many ways. But I’m just so thankful for God’s mercy that He’s counted us worthy to put us into His ministry; amen? As children of His kingdom, ambassadors of God. If we really take a moment and meditate upon that, and what that means—we know what ambassadorship is and how it relates to the political system. That’s who we are in the kingdom of God. We’re not trying to hold out to the end in this perverse hour that we’re living in; we’re more than conquerors; amen? We, the church, are not trying to survive, we’re here to stand in dominion as restrainers of the Antichrist until we are taken out of the way.
We, as the church, need to continue to remind ourselves who we are; amen? Who we are as the representatives of Christ’s kingdom. Matthew makes it very clear, “Who do you say that I am?” and Peter responded to Him and said, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:15-18). And He said, “Flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee;” you’re a blessed man, Peter. And I’ll tell you this because of that statement, it’s on that statement that ‘I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”; amen?
We’re a victorious church and we begin to see everything around us deteriorating, a world that we don’t even recognize. How long we’ve quoted the Scriptures, but we see it manifesting, and we can’t believe what we’re seeing or what we’re hearing. But the Scripture’s very clear, as the prophet spoke, “Truth is fallen in the street” (Isaiah 59:14). It’s an hour where men are calling good, evil and evil, good. Isn’t it beyond imagination, what we’re seeing? The insanity in which we live. But we’re a separate people, called out; amen? “A peculiar people,” the Scripture said (1 Peter 2:9). That just means, “set off by boundaries.” I want you to know something this morning: there’s a hedge built around us and Satan can’t get to us without God’s permission. Hallelujah! We’re a people that live with that divine protection, that great grace that manifests around us.
We’re a generation called to “shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” Hallelujah! We should be out in the midst of this society, when everybody else is moaning and groaning, and be praising God; amen? Show them the testimony. Everybody’s griping about inflation and fearful of what this election is going to bring. We need to be out singing the high praises of God, “for the Lord inhabits the praises of His people” (Psalm 22:3). Hallelujah! Let’s bring God into the equation; amen? We’re the church triumphant. The church invincible. The church overcomers. Hallelujah! “And the gates of hell shall not prevail.” Now remember, the gates are not offensive. The gates around the cities were defensive. They fortified. The people behind them were fearful of the invaders that were coming. I want you to know something: the devil fears us, we shouldn’t be fearing him. The gates of hell will not prevail. That means we’re on the offensive. We cannot sit back. We must take on the full “armour of God,” Ephesians tells us (6:13), “and having done all, stand,” hallelujah! Stand! Don’t give up another inch. What we’ve taken, we possess, and don’t give it back to the enemy.
