Come Boldly to the Throne
Scripture: Hebrews 4:14-16Devotional Series: Sovereignty and Prayer
Teaching: Sovereignty and Prayer pt. 3 (SUN_AM 2024-12-01) by Pastor Star R Scott
Let this Word purify your minds. Let it draw and reveal to you the thoughts and the intentions of your heart. Rest in this promise, “…that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession…” Our high priest is not a man “…which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted, like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace…” (Hebrews 4:14-16). We come boldly, because we are the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ. We come boldly, because we are now the representatives of the Lord Jesus on this earth. It would be good for us to be able to apprehend that understanding of our ambassadorship. Just meditate on it for a little bit. We’re not here representing our kingdom. We’re here representing God’s kingdom. Amen?
We have rights to go to God on behalf of Him establishing His kingdom. When we go to God concerning His kingdom, He hears us. Think about that. When you go to cast out your next devil, don’t make it about your faith, make it about His lordship. Because the casting out of these demons is one of the signs that His kingdom and power is in our midst today. Isn’t that what the Bible teaches? Healings are a vindication that His kingdom is being established now in our midst. Prayer, boldness to access God, and expectation for His power to manifest is all about Him being glorified. The establishing of the kingdom that men would see our good works and glorify our Father, which is in Heaven. Pray after this manner: “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).
I think that as we become more kingdom-minded, we can become more assured in our praying, because we know we’re praying the will of God. This kingdom is without observation. The kingdom of God is within us. The kingdom of God is not meat and drink. It’s righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. The kingdom is an expression of what we’re going to see here in just a moment in John 16. He comes and tells us to come boldly to obtain mercy. To obtain mercy. To obtain mercy. When we come to the throne of God boldly, we still need mercy. Amen? We’re not there on our own merit. John 15 says we’ve been called and ordained to bear fruit as we abide in Him.
We’re there because of the finished work of Jesus and we can come boldly because it is, in fact, finished. All things that pertain to life and godliness are at work within us. I made the comment earlier that we’re not heard because of our much speaking, but we are heard because of our much abiding. How much of our mind is given to the eternal? How many of our desires are to see this kingdom established? How many of us would be willing, if God would give us a number and tell us, “I want this many hours prayed, and then I’ll deliver your child”? How many of you would start going after it right now? But God says, “If you abide in Me and My Word abides in you, you can ask what you will, and it’ll be done to you,” praise God. Let’s use those hours in His presence, listening to what He has devised as a plan to deliver our loved ones. To deliver those that are lost, because He’s not willing that any would perish. To give up on our loved one’s deliverance is to give up on God.
I was fellowshipping with the Lord just the other day. There seems to be some evidence that my father repented on his deathbed. We’ll take any positive that we can. God’s good. Amen? His mercies endure forever. We’re battling for the souls of our loved ones, of those that are lost, broken, blind eyes, scales covering them by the god of this world, lest they should believe the light of the glorious gospel. Your prayer can rip those scales off of people’s eyes with your prayer and your intercession. Believing God to use us to speak a word in season is what sets the captives free. Our prayer and intercession, then open those doors that no man can open. Days, weeks, prior to it ever manifesting. We won’t go to Daniel right now, but the victory was won in the heavens. “The moment you prayed, I heard you.” Three weeks later, the promise showed up, but they were heard. God’s will was effected three weeks before it manifested. We haven’t seen it yet, but it’s taken place in the heart and mind of God Who lives in eternity and His promises are yea and amen. Hallelujah! I want to encourage you this morning, don’t faint. Enter in boldly and obtain mercy, the Scripture says. Obtain that mercy and that grace to help us in this time of need.
