Come Boldly Before the Throne

Scripture: Hebrews 4:16
Devotional Series: Sovereignty and Prayer
Teaching: Sovereignty and Prayer pt. 4 (WED 2024-12-04) by Pastor Star R Scott

Don’t feel strange, it’s normal today to walk around murmuring.  Oh, the privilege of the bold access through the blood of Jesus.  This high priest being touched with the feelings of our infirmities.  He’s there constantly, ever living making intercession for us.  What’s He praying?  That we might pray.  That we might declare His finished work.  What brings more glory to God than us perpetually praying without ceasing, declaring the victory of the blood of Jesus?  Constantly; amen?  In our hearts, in our minds.  How do we renew our minds?  Just keep speaking the gospel over and over to yourself of the victory that’s been won, and who we are in Jesus Christ.

He’s touched with the feeling of our infirmities.  The Scripture’s clear.  The Lord pities us.  Many of us say, “I don’t want to be pitied.”  You need to be pitied.  You are a mess.  Thank God, He’s taken us who were no people and has made us a people.  But it’s through adoption.  The great thing about adoption is it’s a choice.  God saw what condition we were in, and while we were sinners, loved us and adopted us as sons, and has gathered us to Himself, and will someday cause us to be raised up and be seated with Him in the heavenlies.  And that’s why we say, “Come quickly, Lord Jesus.”  I’d rather be seated in the heavenlies right now, looking into the face of my Savior and declaring His majesty and His greatness, His awesomeness, than piddling around here with the crumbs.  Everything at its best, the greatest pleasure, the fulfillment of life, the successes, whatever it is, it doesn’t matter what area it is, beloved, it is so far inferior to what God has prepared for those that love Him; amen?  Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

So, “Let us come… boldly before the throne…, that we may obtain mercy, and findhelp in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).  Come boldly to the throne.  This place of communion and fellowship.  The very core of the presence of God.  The Scripture makes it clear when our eyes perceive, glimpse Him that’s seated upon that throne—come boldly before the throne—One thing happens.  We begin to cry out holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty.  These futile, vain pleasures that we forsake praying for, conversation with somebody, some sitcom that we watch, a great movie, whatever it might be.  Why don’t we see that throne room and give the value to it, that prayer closet I’m speaking of, that it deserves?  “When I come, will I find faith?”  Lord, help my unbelief; amen?  I want to really get a vision.  I really want to understand.  I really want to believe that prayer is what the Bible declares it to be.  And if we believed that, nobody would have to be admonishing us to pray.  Without faith it’s impossible, therefore those that come to God, say it, must believe that He is.  We’re going to go to 1 John in just a moment and see what it means to love God.  You can’t love God and not keep His commandments; amen?  And one of His greatest commandments is pray.  “My blood was shed that you might boldly come into My presence.”  It’s the only thing that can give us that access.  Men ought always to pray.  Men ought always to pray.  Men ought always to pray.  Pray without ceasing.
