Ask Yourselves the Question

Scripture: Revelation 3:20
Devotional Series: Preparing for Persecution
Teaching: Preparing For Persecution pt. 7 (WED 2021-05-05) by Pastor Star R Scott

What’s the Holy Spirit saying to the church at this hour?  “You’re going to go into persecution.”  What’s the Holy Spirit saying to the church right now?  The Head of the Church is saying to us right now the same thing that He was emphasizing and manifesting to His disciples that walked with Him in those last days, and in fact, to the very last hour.  Wasn’t it tragic, as He looked at His church and said, “You couldn’t tarry for one hour?  Well then, sleep on.”  The admonition is, don’t let that day take us unaware; amen?  The admonition is watch and pray that you don’t enter into temptations, tests, and trials in these last days.  There are enough that are coming already just by proclamation of the hour that we’re living in.  Let’s not add our own apathy, lethargy to it.  Let’s not add into it our own pride and our own ambition for this world’s system.  Beloved, as this day’s coming on us, let us understand that admonition to get free from the sins and weights that do so easily beset us; amen?  Start traveling light, man, start traveling light.  That happens in your mind and in your heart.  There need to be heart changes.  See, many of us would like to start outwardly and from the law perspective, and we’re talking about traveling light.  So, we would then hear, possibly, the Master saying what He did to the rich young ruler, “You know what you need to do?  Sell all and follow Me.”  For most of us, here, that’s not our problem.  Most of us, here, are not bound by the pursuit of wealth.  Most of us, here, are content in our godliness and our pursuit of God, and we’re thankful for the multiple blessings that He’s given us; amen?  That’s not our problem, the one the rich young ruler had.  I would not admonish us as a people, “Sell all that you have, give it to the poor.”  What I would admonish us is let’s love God with all our hearts, with all our souls, with all our strength; amen?  If we’re fulfilling that first and great commandment, all this other stuff will take care of itself.

I’m convinced that there is not a day that I love God with all my heart, with all my soul, and with all of my strength.  Absolutely convinced of that.  I’m also absolutely convinced that my justification through faith and the redemption in Jesus Christ makes up that sufficiency as I relate to our heavenly Father; amen?  But what we have to do is, and then we’re truly able to see ourselves, hold ourselves up against those commandments.  What is the great commandment?  Love God with all your heart, mind and soul and love your neighbor as yourself.  How are we doing?  Are you pursuing God with a diligence today that you never have?  Can you say in this hour that we’re living you’ve heard the voice of the Holy Ghost to the latter‑day church say “I stand at the door and knock,” amen?  That’s not a salvation Scripture, that’s a sanctification Scripture, that’s a Lordship Scripture.  “Invite Me in, and I’ll sup with you!”  In this last hour we’re being admonished over and over by the Holy Spirit to ask ourselves that question.
