That You Might Have Life

Teaching: Effectual Fervent Prayer pt. 4 (SUN_PM 2023-04-02) by Pastor Star R Scott
One of my granddaughters, writing in the book that so many of you graciously signed and in which you shared your testimonies and messages, said, “Grandpa, no matter what was going on in the back room when you were having meetings, I could just come in anytime I wanted.” She didn’t have to stop and the secretary’s desk and make an appointment: she would come back there to see Grandpa, and jump onto his lap. If you go to the back room and look beneath the conference table where I sit, you will see a bunch of stickers—little notes and little pictures that Hope had drawn years and years ago at five or six years old. How do you take those down? Many times I will push myself away from that table, look at those notes, and thank God for that generation (amen?), seeing how those precious grandchildren are serving God and are now raising another generation.
My other granddaughter wasn’t always as insistent on attention as Hope was; she would just stand there quietly and take everything in, and push her sister forward. We have that access to our heavenly Father: He never says, “No.” He remembers every little note you have given Him and hears every prayer that you speak; “for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom”; amen? What do you need that this kingdom provides? It’s all yours in the name of Jesus. We just have to fellowship with Father; we just have to let Him know where our heart is; we need to be truthful and let Him know. He is not ignorant; He is omniscient: He knows the end from the beginning; He knows better than we do what our hearts’ desires are. But He says, “Come unto me (amen?) all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
We have talked about praying the will of God. God’s will for your life is this, and what we pray for we should believe for and speak as the truth: “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10). God wants us to have a good life; it is part of this provision: “God who giveth us richly all things to enjoy”; amen? So, this access has been provided to us.
Look at Hebrews, where we see some great promises that God has given us. He wants us to come to Him and understand what our benefits are. In Hebrews, Chapter 11, verse 6, we are talking about praying to the Father in Jesus’ name: “He that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hallelujah.
One thing we understand is this: we not only have a right to access God, we have a right to come boldly, with expectation that He will meet us there and meet every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus; amen? “Come into My presence boldly,” He says. I want you to understand the access that the blood of Christ has afforded you, and what a great opportunity has been given to each one of us as we look for that access to His presence.
