Delivered for Our Offenses
Scripture: Romans 4:25Devotional Series: Effectual Fervent Prayer
Teaching: Effectual Fervent Prayer pt. 6 (SUN_AM 2023-04-09) by Pastor Star R Scott
We’ve been given all power and all authority over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means harm us, because Jesus has risen; hallelujah. All the idols of this world will bow, and, in fact, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. The obstinate, the stiff-necked people today are not only denying, but defying God. The statement of a number of decades back, that “God is dead.” He is very alive; amen? God Almighty, the Lord Jesus Christ; remember, He is very God; amen? We all know that. Wonderful, Counselor, He’s the Prince of Peace. He’s the everlasting Father, God Almighty, the Omnipotent reigns; hallelujah.
That’s what Resurrection Sunday is all about. The great enemy of man, the thing that all human beings fear: death; this cessation. Many of the false religions will teach things such as reincarnation. I don’t know who those guys are that came back as gnats, but they had to have been some pretty ornery people. What hopelessness, the belief in annihilation. We realize that everything that we see, that we think of as being real, identifiable, we as creatures of time and space relate to matter. But matter is not the reality; the spirit realm is reality. All matter exists because God spoke; amen? This Word that had become flesh for the purpose of taking your sin and my sin upon Himself, hung on that tree.
The Jesus “gets us” slogan; Jesus doesn’t “get us.” Jesus doesn’t identify with man; man looking at himself in his own self-pity, and saying, “Look at my circumstances; woe is me. It’s not fair.” Jesus didn’t identify with that in the slightest. He Who knew no sin was made sin with our sin. There’s no man that can identify with that. No one ever suffered like Jesus, as He was tormented. Having tasted, for every man, the rejection of the Father. What arrogance, to put man on that kind of plane. Jesus doesn’t “get us,” Jesus loves us, and while we were yet sinners, He died for us; praise God. No man sought Him; He sought them. Isn’t that what the Scripture tells us? Jesus doesn’t identify with man; Jesus never sinned. He became sin with our sin. So, as we look at the great distinction of Christianity from all other religions: a personal relationship with a living God. A people created in His image and after His likeness. Those that have tasted, as we’ll see here in just a moment this morning, the good gift of God’s grace and justification, are drawn nigh as children. We’ve become sons, heirs, and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. We’re His children; we’re His bride. He will not leave us alone; He will come for us; praise God. He has gone, He has resurrected and gone and ascended into the heavens to make a place for us, that where He is, there we shall be also; praise God.
Oh, Resurrection Sunday. It’s what makes those dwelling places a reality. “I will come again.” He made that declaration, “I’ve risen, I’m going to ascend to the Father, and I will come again and receive you unto Myself.”
