Scripture: Ephesians 4:16
Devotional Series: Grieving the Holy Spirit
Teaching: Grieving The Holy Spirit pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2021-11-28) by Pastor Star R Scott

It used to be when you were walking up with some packages or whatever, a child would stand there and open the door for you.  Now, they try to beat you there, throw it open, and run through.  Your children should not be in the front of the line when we’re having different events, to be the first ones to run up and grab the food and be told so many times by those that are working there, and sometimes people won’t say anything.  Now, why am I off on this thing?  We’re talking about order.  We’re talking about being able to submit, be teachable, and we could go on and on.  It’s a lack of discipline.  We have a meeting going on or whatever.  It could be after a service, and kids are playing with all kinds of stuff, and you call out, “Time to go.”  No, it’s not time to go until they put the stuff back where they got it.  This is part of where we’re talking about the love and these different areas to speak toward things that are orderly.  We owe it, we owe it to these children.  We owe it to the community.  You’re not special.  You’re part of the whole.

The thing that has destroyed this nation is the fact that we are now a people who are not caught up with the good of the whole but of the individual.  That’s why our president made such a horrible decision back there when he was running for president and was conned by the lies of Fauci, but our president should have stood up and said, “I am not going to leverage and destroy this nation for a million people dying.”  Those are hard decisions.  Truman dropped the atomic bomb to save lives—ours and the Japanese.  See, we have a society that can’t make hard decisions anymore.  Your kids need to hear “no.”  It’s always fun to watch them come in for the first time now because they’re trained some here in the service time, et cetera.  It’s not as obvious, but it’s very interesting to watch the little ones, who are used to ruling the home, when they come in and find out what it’s like to stand in a line.  “What do you mean stand in line?  What are you talking about, take my turn?  It’s always my turn.”

We’ve talked about the ministry gifts and the need to make sure that the body is being edified.  See, my job has to sometimes make a few of you mad for the good of the whole, but we’re doing it God’s way.  These little groups who want to apply things their way is not going to happen.  As we go along these lines, part of what we’re going to get involved in somewhere along the line, I don’t know when it’s going to pop out, but has to do with some people’s understanding and application of what we’ve taught all these years on relationships.  Now we’ve got people that are promoting their own ideas of how those things should work, and that’s not your job.  “You can do anything you want at home,” but we’re going to realize that some of the things that are taking place right now applies to any subject you want.  I’m believing God, should He tarry, for at least ten years of strength to still be actively involved in ministry.  We’ve worked fifty years to build what’s here, to set a course, and we will not allow a handful of people to change the course that we’ve set in some of these different issues.

Some of you seventh and eighth graders who just came up here into adult church, some of you have been seeing and hearing things that are not the doctrine of this church.  You’ve watched how people have related, and there is so much—there was never this kind of talk about relations and boyfriends and girlfriends and who belongs to whom ten years ago.  In ten more years when I’m dead, whoever takes over is going to have to be warring with the dating that’s going on because we, in this area, and many others we’re going to speak to— I just happened to throw this one out now because we’re going to deal with some specifics.  My comment right now to the little seventh and eighth graders is, why?  Much of what you’ve observed is not the doctrine of this church, and you’re not going to do it that way.  “Ooh, you finally got to come up to big church.”  Yeah, and you’re not going to do it that way.  That’s what big church is all about.  In the application of that doctrine, as well as many others, there’s a number, and this gossip and slander and critical spirit stuff is one of them, is going in the wrong direction.  It’s being accepted.  It is not acceptable!  Let it not be once named among you.  We will not allow unchallenged the hypocrisy of quoting Scripture and praising God and criticizing and murdering our brothers out of the same mouth.  Why?  Because God doesn’t allow it.
