No Corrupt Communication

Scripture: Ephesians 4:29
Devotional Series: Grieving the Holy Spirit
Teaching: Grieving The Holy Spirit pt. 1 (SUN_AM 2021-11-28) by Pastor Star R Scott

We’ve read enough Scripture to have seen the mind of Christ, but I’ve got about twenty-five or thirty others I’d like to share.  “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers” (Ephesians 4:29).  Is what you talk about, your conversation, is it bringing ministering grace to the hearer?  Are they now having to deal with doubts, and now you’ve changed their thought process on some person?  So much of what we’re saying as gospel is second and third generation of somebody that heard something from somebody else.  The fact that it got to you is so unscriptural.  Whenever you face this, do not entertain a word.  Send them back to the person; amen?  If there is a conflict, an issue, whatever it might be, you go to your brother.  You don’t go to your best friend so that you can unload your heart.  Between them and you alone, and that’s how you deal a personal conflict.  Anything that is not a personal conflict is gossip, “busybodyness.”  We’ve got a few young men, young adults, in here that are involved so much.  They have their noses in all of these supposed relationships that are not lawful, gossiping and talking about who’s whose partner and who belongs to whom like a silly girl, woman, running from house to house.  Grow up and be a man!  Get your eyes on what’s eternal and start edifying people.

Start obeying the Scriptures.  “Those that do these things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”  We’ve so minimized, we have so absolutely minimized, made common, accepted this satanic, demonic, sensual, earthly wisdom to become a part of our lives.  The very next verse in that Ephesians passage says it grieves the Holy Spirit, and I believe He’s grieved.  I’ve been in prayer.  We were on the verge of setting out on a new project here, the biggest we’ve ever looked at for the fellowship, and all of the men have been saying, “Let’s go for it.  Let’s do it.”  I’m just saying, “Man, I’m not at peace.  I’m just not at peace, and I couldn’t get an answer from God.”  Friday, as I was in prayer, the Lord just spoke to me and said to me, basically, “This is no time to pray.  Get up.  You’ve got sin in the camp.”  He began to unveil this to me, and He said, “This is a danger to the ministry.  This will blow this ministry up.”  This place with one igniting, as James says, one word spoken, and in an environment that we’ve allowed, it can set the whole thing on fire.  I was shocked when I heard that from the Holy Spirit.  “Are we really in that dangerous a place?”  He said, “Yes.”  He said, “I want you to go, and don’t leave anything unturned.”  So here we go.  How long are we going to go here?  I don’t know.  I had no intention of it, but when I believe I’ve heard from the Spirit of God, then I’m going to do what the Holy Spirit told me to do, so that’s where we are.

Father, we thank You for Your Word, Your love.  We ask that You would move among us, that You would challenge our hearts, that You would reveal our hearts.  Father, that You would reveal in each and every one of us those things that are not Christlike, that Your doctrine would ring clear in our hearts and in our minds, that we would give no place to the devil, that we would love Your Word, and let it become the joy, the rejoicing.  To those that love You, they will keep Your commandments and they will not be grievous.  We love Your Word.  We love You, and You said if we do, we’re to keep Your commandments and love the brethren.  Work it in us by Your Holy Spirit.  We ask You to forgive us.  Bring us to a godly sorrow.  We’re not asking You to just forgive us.  We’re not asking You to blot it out without consequence.  Teach us; convict our hearts; bring us a godly sorrow.  Let us make right the things that we’ve wronged, so that You would not be grieved in our midst.  Father, we ask that in the mighty name of Jesus.  Amen.
